Brush Creek Tributary Natural Channel Design

Construction was initiated in February 2002 for 800 feet of natural channel design located in Henry County, Georgia. The purpose of the proposed stream mitigation plan is to restore, stabilize, and construct approximately 800 feet of a degraded stream channel of an unnamed tributary of Brush Creek located in Clark Park within the city of Stockbridge, GA.

A natural channel design was implemented which included the restoration of widened riparian buffers and creation of floodprone areas to compensate for storm water flows through the channel. The channel dimensions were restored to the proper dimensions and in-stream structures were installed to reduce the near bank stress and transportation of sediment  ESI provided project oversight to including scheduling and deployment, implementation of BMP’s, and purchase of plant material and erosion control blankets (ECB’s).

ESI provided construction management including pre-construction stake-out of the plan form, supervised and directed excavation and grading, installation of plant material and ECB’s, and site clean-up after construction was completed. The project included in-stream structure installation, bankfull benches, streambank stabilization, and riparian vegetation planting and management.
