Steven M. Jones - Professional Experience
Steve Jones has 34 years experience as a vegetation and landscape ecologist specializing in the areas of natural stream morphology restoration, landscape modeling, ecological land classification, vegetation ecology, soils, and forest wetland ecology.
Dr. Jones has been published in 35 professional journals including a book chapter addressing ecosystem management in the South. He has given over 50 presentations at professional meetings including several invited papers on ecological land classification at regional, national and international symposia. While in academia, Dr. Jones managed a graduate research program in vegetation ecology and soils and taught graduate and undergraduate level ecology courses.
Dr. Jones has served as an environmental consultant with a diversity of project experience such as urban and rural Water and Riverine Systems, design and construction, soil classification and mapping, upland riparian landscape modeling, wetland mitigation/restoration design, and mitigation bank permitting.
In addition, he has successfully completed all levels of training in the Rosgen stream classification and natural channel design and river restoration. As an Environmental Services, Inc. Division Director, Dr, Jones is responsible for leading the natural channel design restoration efforts for the firm.
