Nocatee, Duval and St. Johns County, FL
The proposed Nocatee mixed-use community development is located in southeastern Duval and northeastern St. Johns Counties, Florida, in a largely rural area. The site comprises approximately 14,953 acres of mainly undeveloped wooded land, except for a residence, a mobile home and a barn used by the caretaker, and trail roads. Historically, portions of the property were used for silviculture, and were timbered and planted for pine plantations. The relevancy to this project is similar type of work which included a Phase I Environmental Site Assessment, natural community, protected species, water quality, wetlands and archeological studies for the site.
Clay County Development Authority, Clay County, FL
ESI was selected in November 2008 by the Clay County Development Authority (CCDA) to facilitate Clay County’s Brownfields Redevelopment Program and the first EPA grant issued as part of this program ($200K) through 2011. ESI has teamed with Concurrent Technologies Corporation (CTC) to offer Brownfields Redevelopment services nationwide. CTC manages more EPA Region 4 grants than any other firm.
Camp Blanding, Florida
Since May 2007, ESI has conducted over 15 projects for the Florida Army National Guard that included a cultural resource assessment survey of six training areas and ESI performed Phase II evaluations of 11 potentially eligible sites. The fieldwork strategies during the Phase I investigations included pedestrian inspection coupled with subsurface testing at 12.5, 25, 50, and 100-meter intervals as well as judgmentally throughout the project tract. The results of the Phase I survey included the recordation of 25 new archaeological sites and the survey of two previously recorded sites (8CL140 and 8CL1222). None of these resources revealed characteristics to suggest further work would generate significant new data; therefore these sites were considered ineligible for NRHP listing. ESI also performed a historic architectural assessment that was conducted at each armory that included a pedestrian inspection of each building regardless of age, as well as background research.
